Life of a Web Designer or Web Developer
The Life of a Web Designer or Web Developer, typically, is responsible for the design, layout and coding of a website. They are involved with the technical and graphical aspects of a website – how the site works and how it looks. Their job is to create websites using good design principles to meet their client’s vision.
Designers should be able to communicate clearly with their clients. They can also be involved with the maintenance and update of an existing site. You can be both a Web Designer, or a Web Developer.
In order to design a website, a web designer or developer will:
Determine the purpose of the website based on its targeted audience. He or she will Identify the type of content the site will host.
Determine the usability and functionality that the site must support. For example, whether it will handle financial transactions such as e-commerce sites, shopping sites. blog sites or just simple inquiries using a log-in system.
They will give recommendations on the layout, colours and styles, as well as the look and fell of the website. They will also determine the type of technology they will use and how complex the website will be.
They may write the programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing website software and graphics packages to meet business requirements. They will test and debug the website and identify any technical problems prior to uploading the website onto a server. They will then register the web site with different search engines.
